CH 2 The Fabric of the Cosmos

Again in this chapter of The Fabric of the Cosmos we deal with a concept that does not really have a definitive explanation for it.  In the beginning of the chapter, the book asks if space is a human distraction or a physical entity?  A main point of the chapter lies in the bucket experiment.  In the experiment, at first the bucket which is filled with water starts spinning while the water remains still.  Then the water spins with a concave shape with the bucket.  Finally, the bucket stops spinning even though the water remains spinning with the concave shape.  the important questions to ask are why does the water spin differently than the bucket and what is the water spinning in relation to.  We believe it is spinning in relation to space but are not completely sure.  If it is spinning in relation to space, then consequently space would have to exist as something.
